To further enhance the utilization of the Department of Agriculture – Western Visayas’ (DA-WV) Smart Greenhouse project, the Korean government agency of Education, Promotion and Information Service in Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (EPIS) visited the project recently. The Smart Greenhouse project was turned to the DA-WV by the Korean government through its Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) last December 2023. The success of the Smart Greenhouse enabled the EPIS to consider it a benchmark point for future feasibility proposals.

DA-WV’s High-Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP), Research Division, Western Visayas Agricultural Research Center, and Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division’s representatives provided answers to EPIS’ queries during the visit.

With the hopes of working in collaboration with DA-WV and the Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI), EPIS’ survey team, consisting of the following: Dr. Jung, Dong yul, Dr. Kim, Kang ho, Dr. Kim Donguk, Dr. Jo, Hongyong, and Ms. Lee, Jae-Eun, expressed their interest to collaborate with young Filipino farmers.

The undertaking will eventually build the Internship Program on Smart Agriculture for young Filipinos, which will be launched in 2026 if the movement is approved. Taking into consideration, the EPIS Team gathered needed data for their feasibility study and will continue to further communicate with DA-WV to put in action, the greener start of the Youth Internship Program with DA-ATI.### Text and Photos by Vivien Nimue Quimpo-Almalbis/DA-RAFIS 6
