Iloilo Coffee Festival showcases local coffee industry at ILOBEX 2024

The Iloilo Coffee Festival 2024, one of the highlights of the Iloilo Business Expo (ILOBEX), was held from July 25-28 at the Iloilo Convention Center. The event aimed to shed light on the thriving coffee industry of Iloilo and bring together enthusiasts, farmers, and industry experts to foster growth and innovation.

One key segment of the festival was the “Istorya Kape,” which focused on enhancing local coffee production. Attendees had the opportunity to explore the details of coffee cultivation and learn from experts in the field.

DA-WV Agriculturist II and Coffee Regional Coordinator Jairus Sirue, delivered an insightful discussion on coffee production technology. He emphasized the importance of adopting advanced farming techniques to improve yield and quality. “Our goal is to empower local farmers with the knowledge and tools they need to elevate Iloilo’s coffee industry,” said Sirue.

The “Istorya Kape” segment covered a variety of topics, including the Coffee Chain of Iloilo Coffee, discussed by Iloilo Province Senior Agriculturist Geron Magbanua. Other significant topics included Regenerative Coffee Farming, the Iloilo Coffee Farmers Forum, Plant Coffee Launching, and A Case for Conserving Philippine Coffee Heritage.

 

The Iloilo Coffee Festival provided an avenue for networking, learning, and collaboration. It underscored the significance of the coffee industry in the region and highlighted the potential for growth through innovative practices and community engagement.
