Continuing its agricultural advancement, Guimaras subsequently organized a Training on Coffee Production Technology following the Cacao Production Training. Led by DA Western Visayas High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP) in collaboration with the Provincial Office for Agricultural Services (POAS) Office from April 18 to 19, 2024, at the Spring Bloom Agri Farm Learning Site for Agriculture in Concordia, Sibunag, this training aimed to further enhance agricultural practices in the region.

DA-WV Regional Coffee Coordinator Jairus Sirue delved into comprehensive discussions covering coffee planting techniques, pest and disease management, cultural practices, and post-harvest handling, providing farmers with crucial insights to refine their coffee cultivation methods.

Concurrently, the Regional Soil Laboratory conducted sessions on the accurate collection and preparation of soil samples, emphasizing the pivotal role of precision in soil management.

Hands-on sessions, including demonstrations on proper cacao propagation through stem cutting, planting techniques, and pruning, equipped participants with the requisite skills for successful coffee cultivation.

This agricultural training series underscores Guimaras’ commitment to promoting sustainable farming practices and enhancing the livelihoods of local farmers. By granting access to essential knowledge and practical skills, these workshops empower agricultural communities and stimulate economic growth in the Guimaras province. # (By MSSubang/DA-RAFIS 6 | Photo Credits: JVelagio/POAS Guimaras)
