In a significant move to boost the local agricultural economy and enhance sustainable food practices, the Farm and Fisheries Clustering and Consolidation (F2C2) Program in Western Visayas has partnered with the Department of Agriculture’s Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (DA-AMAD). This collaboration, in conjunction with the Aklan’s Office of the Provincial Agriculturist and Malay Aklan’s Office of the Municipal Agriculturist, seeks to connect Aklan’s farmer organizations with Boracay’s burgeoning food establishments.
“This strategic initiative aims to integrate Aklan’s local food producers, particularly those associated with Agro-Enterprise Clustering Approach (AECA) sites, into the supply chains of Boracay’s hospitality and food sectors. By fostering these connections, the initiative seeks to ensure a steady supply of fresh, locally-sourced produce while promoting sustainable agricultural practices.” remarked James Daniel E. Gregori, Research Team Leader and DA Enterprise Development and Marketing Specialist.
The New Market Research and B2B Matching Initiative represents a forward-thinking approach to agricultural and economic development in Aklan. By connecting local farmers with Boracay’s food establishments, the initiative not only promotes sustainable agriculture but also boosts the local economy. This collaborative effort between F2C2, DA-AMAD, and local agricultural offices is set to pave the way for a more integrated, sustainable, and prosperous agricultural sector in Aklan. ###MEBagonoc/F2C2 Program
