Performing its mandate to disseminate vital agricultural knowledge and promote scientific and sustainable farming practices, the Department of Agriculture (DA) has partnered with one community-based and two university-based radio stations to reach the people of Western Visayas.

The DA has provided program partners with broadcasting equipment to convey significant stories and helpful information. These programs are presently airing on local media, social media, and within campuses, serving as invaluable resources for communities across the region.

Through engaging radio broadcasting segments and Facebook Live sessions, the DA has managed to tap into three (3) stations: Nutriskwela Radyo Kaabyan 88.5FM in the Municipality of Sibalom, Antique, DYWV-Radio West Visayas of West Visayas State University (WVSU), handled by the College of Communication, and DYMT Multimedia-based Community Teleradio of Aklan State University.

These programs aim to reach out to the masses with updates on the program and services of the Department of Agriculture and to share local farmers’ experiences through the day-to-day tilling of their lands, maintaining crop growth, and sharing personal stories and challenges while operating their farms. These platforms serve as a driving force to support the unsung heroes of agriculture, making their voices heard and spreading compassion and inspiration to others.

Stay tuned to Nutriskwela Radyo Kaabyanan 88.5FM every Saturday and Sunday at 6:30 and 8:30 am, anchored by Sibalom Municipal Agriculturist Albert Estoya and representatives from the Department of Agriculture; likewise, tune in to DYWV-Radio West Visayas’ The INSIGHTS via Facebook and campus radio circuit every 11:30 am to 12:00 noon; follow  DYMT Multimedia-based Community Teleradio and Radio 101 News on Facebook to catch significant agriculture contents.

Through the fusion of media and academia, these initiatives ignite a flame of hope, illuminating a path toward a future where agriculture thrives and communities flourish. It is a vision of heartfelt connection, where the bonds between people and the land they cultivate grow stronger, paving the way for a brighter, more resilient tomorrow.###VNOQuimpo/DA-RAFIS 6
