DA-WV Research Division conducts Panel Review of R&D Proposals

As an activity that is being undertaken every semester, the Department of Agriculture (DA) Western Visayas (WV) Research Division conducts their 1st Semester Panel Review of Research and Development Proposals from May 21 to 23, 2025 in Iloilo City, where 21 proposals from the Research Division and Research Outreach Stations (ROS) were presented and evaluated for critiquing, refinement, and packaging.

The activity was conducted in order to prepare high-quality Research and Development (R&D) proposals that are aligned with the R&D Plans and Program. The evaluators for the proposals were Supervising Senior Research Specialist Dr. Aljen P. Vasquez, Research Division Chief Luisa P. Fulgueras, former Regional Executive Director RFO 6 and President of Panay Organization for Progressive Agriculture Larry P. Nacionales, and DA-AMAD Senior Agriculturist Ms. Rhea Cristina G. Resol.

These said proposals are intended for submission to the DA-Bureau of Agriculture Research (BAR) and for the regional and R&D funding allocation. In a message by DA-WV Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulations Zarlina B. Cuello, she explained that research is a way for the agriculture sector to progress, as it may provide tools for farmers and practitioners to alter unsystematic practices. Highlighting the role of researchers, Cuello emphasized that they provide solutions and systems on the practices of farmers through the introduction of science-based tools, techniques, and strategies that could improve farm productivity, increase income, and grow enterprise building.
