The Department of Agriculture-Western Visayas (DA-WV) 4K Program in partnership with the Barotac Viejo Local Government Unit (Barotac Viejo LGU) recently held an immersive experience for national and regional visitors, showcasing the Ati community of Barotac Viejo.

This initiative allowed officials and members of the 4K Program Management Unit from the national office and different regions to benchmark and engage firsthand with the local culture, traditions, and sustainable agricultural practices of the Ati people, fostering cultural exchange and unity.

During the tour, visitors were introduced to farming methods, crafts and the unique challenges faced by the Ati community. The program emphasized the importance of inclusive agricultural development and community resilience, providing an inspiring model for other regions aiming to integrate indigenous knowledge into sustainable practices.

The indigenous people of Barotac Viejo also showcased Balay Nagpana, their branding and production of local coffee being processed with the help of DA-WVs workshops and training. The coffee shop and bean production was a testament that with proper nurturing, a community can live and flourish with abundance.

The DA-WV 4K immersion tour not only strengthened ties across regions but also highlighted the resilience and rich heritage of the Ati, reinforcing the value of cultural respect and environmental stewardship in agriculture.### (text by: VNOQuimpo / photos by: VNOQuimpo/JABelarmino – DA-WV 4K)
