The Department of Agriculture Western Visayas brought its KADIWA program to the spotlight during the West Visayas State University (WVSU) Week celebration, themed “Discovery and Innovation for Growth and Meaningful Opportunities (DIGAMO) sa West,” January 27 – 31, 2025.

The event showcased the region’s agricultural commodities through an agro-industrial exhibit featuring fresh crops and processed products from various municipalities in Western Visayas. The “KADIWA sa WVSU” market and exhibit were formally opened by WVSU President Dr. Joselito Villaruz and DA-WV OIC-Regional Technical Director for Operations and Extension Maria Teresa Solis.

DIGAMO sa West – KADIWA drew participation from numerous agricultural cooperatives and entrepreneurs, including the Tubungan Vegetable Producers Association, Alimodian Agricultural Cooperative, Emilyu Food Products, Young Farmers Challenge Awardees, Armi’s Ice Cream, Produkto de Iloilo, Hugpong Iloilo Backyard Farming Cooperative, Leon Bagsakan Vendors Association, AAJ Dried Fish, and DA’s Smart Greenhouse Project.

The National Irrigation Administration Region VI also offers affordable Bagong Bayaning Magsasaka (BBM) Rice priced at just ₱29.00 per kilogram or ₱290.00 for a 10-kilogram bag. The BBM Rice is a component of the agency’s Farming Support Services Program. This program aims to provide affordable rice for consumers while supporting local farmers.

Visitors, including students and agricultural stakeholders, explored the exhibits and availed themselves of educational materials distributed by the Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Information Section.
