The Department of Agriculture (DA) Western Visayas recently conducted a three-day mid-year assessment for the implementation of the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) in Pontevedra, Capiz.

RSBSA focal persons, geotaggers, encoders, and technical staff, deployed regionwide, gathered to evaluate the first semester’s accomplishments and identify areas for improvement to ensure the effective and targeted delivery of government agricultural interventions.

Based on the progress monitored, there is a significant improvement in data encoding, validation, and geotagging. The RSBSA team in the region successfully facilitated substantial updates to farmers’ profiles, reduced data redundancy, and enabled faster data uploading to the central database. These developments help ensure the reliability of farmers’ data as a necessary tool for more effective and efficient implementation of the Masagana Rice Industry Development Program (MRIDP) and other DA programs.

Apart from the assessment, Vanessa Tse Wing, Environmental Management Specialist II of the department, discussed social and environmental safeguards that equipped RSBSA program implementers and field workers with effective farmer engagement strategies and proper field safety protocols for geotaggers. She underscored the importance of using personal protective equipment during ground activities.

Moreover, the Human Resource Management Section supported the activity by facilitating team-building exercises to help participants develop teamwork, collaboration, and communication skills.### Text & Photos by John Candelario/DA-RAFIS 6
