The Department of Agriculture (DA) Western Visayas together with the Provincial Government of Capiz invited all Capiznons to experience “Manindahan Ta” as it opens on April 22 to 29 at the Capiz Provincial Park.

This week-long activity showcased outstanding agri-fishery products of all 17 municipalities and participating exhibitors from neighboring provinces of Antique, Guimaras, Aklan, Negros Occidental, and Iloilo.

Director Dennis R. Arpia of Department of Agriculture Western Visayas lauded the collective efforts of all stakeholders in transforming agricultural practices in the region. He encouraged the local government partners to propose for a holistic program that will comprehensively support the farming industry. The resiliency of our farmers should not be taken for granted especially if they are experiencing extreme climate challenges. ‘we must be keen in our observations to implement changes in our cropping patterns and innovate using science-based technologies and practices to ensure rural development.

Capiz Governor Fredenil H. Castro commended the sacrifices of our farmers and fishers stressing that this event aims to recognize their efforts and heroism, ‘Ang utang natin sa kanila ay hindi lang ang mga laman ng ating tiyan, kundi sa pati na rin ang buhay ng ating mamayanan at buhay ng ating bansa.’

Manindahan Ta! serves as a venue for market development support services and link agriprenuers, farmers and fishers through Agribusiness Support for Promotion and Investment in the Rural Enterprises (ASPIRE) Trade Fair 2024.

It must be noted that the annual CAPIZtahan Festival held every April commemorates the provincial founding anniversary and cultural heritage wherein various town-based festivities, concerts featuring local and national artists and food extravaganza highlights the country’s seafood capital.

The exhibitors of ASPIRE 2024 from different provinces include the Young Farmers of Capiz, Roxas City Aquaculture Association, RIC Women Entrepreneur Association, Kalibutan Society Inc of Negros Occidental, Lorenzo Farm, Integrated Entrepreneurs of Iloilo Philippines Inc., House of Lengua De Gato, Guimaras Herbal Growers Association, Guimaras Food Producers Incorporated, KMME Association of Mentors/Mentees in Antique Inc. and Province of Aklan.###Texts by AMSTabura and Photos by VNOQuimpo/DA-RAFIS 6
