In view of the conducted final joint inspection of the DA-PRDP PSO and RPCO6 on July 9-10, 2024, the ARA-AL Coffee Production and marketing Enterprise of the Barangay ARA-AL Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Association (BAARBA) is set to begin its operations for coffee processing and boost the growing industry as the processing facility nears its completion.

BAARBA Chairperson, Jenelyn Macario said, despite the ongoing recovery from the aftermath of Mt. Kanlaon’s eruption, the enterprise will strongly push through the targeted timeline for start of operations by the last quarter of the year with the aid of the LGU La Carlota.

“As part of our recovery plan, we will confide in buying stocks outside the association for our first operation while we steadily cope from the unexpected activity of Mt. Kanlaon back in June.”

To back the operations of the enterprise, the city government of La Carlota has provided a credible variety of coffee beans that can yield 18 months after planting and can ensure support to the business.

“We are grateful for the efforts of the LGU for providing us unending support with this enterprise. The technical assistance from the PRDP I-REAP has also helped us with our next steps after facing a natural disaster,” Macario added.

Coffee has been continuously thriving in the province keeping up with the demand in the region; and with the commitment to support the development of rural areas, the DA-PRDP pushes forward for sustainable enterprises that would also aid the income of coffee farmers. ###
