The Department of Agriculture Western Visayas (DA-WV) F2C2 Program recently turned over the PhP100,000 business capital grant to Progressive Women Agrarian Reform Cooperative (PWARC) as the beneficiary of the fund bagged by the DA-F2C2 delegate as the best business plan during the business plan training organized by the Agricultural Training Institute Regional Training Center VI (ATI-RTC 6) in October 2022.
As one of the promising F2C2 clusters in Western Visayas, the PWARC located in Bgry. Gibato, Dumarao, Capiz was identified by DA-F2C2 Business Dev’t. Officer Dia Mae Corneja as her identified recipient for the Insulin Plant Juice production business plan entry at the said workshop. Competently, Corneja turned up as the winner for her proposed project.
“The project proposal I prepared is intended to help the cooperative to become more innovative and competitive by creating another healthy product that could attract their current markets,” Corneja stated.
Started from a small group of women who founded the association, the PWARC is now one of the booming cooperatives in the region that provides several products and services, including calamansi juice products, with current markets such as hospitals, schools, and restaurants in Capiz and other parts of the region.
The cooperative also successfully ventured into lending services, water refilling stations, organic fertilizer selling, and rental of post-harvest facilities. With a proven track record in marketing, Corneja believed the cooperative had a stable market and was worthy of further support and intervention from the DA.
As the grant sponsor, Corneja handed over the P100-K check to PWARC Treasurer Junnel Panganiban with their General Manager Rojean Lasap and Bookkeeper Nicolas Prodigo and witnessed by DA-WV Operations OIC-Chief Est er Ruth Torreverde and DA-WV Agriculturist II Jairus Sirue held at the DA-Operations Office. ###By Myleen S.
