A Kick-Off Ceremony of the 2025 National Women’s Month Celebration of the Philippine National Police Regional Police Office (PNP-PRO 6) with the theme: “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society” and a sub-theme “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas” was held at Camp Martin Delgado, Iloilo City on March 3, 2025.
Gracing the celebration as the guest of honor was the Department of Agriculture-Western Visayas (DA-WV) Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulations Zarlina B. Cuello points out that gender inequality limits the growth and progress of women. Despite advocating for gender equality, the elimination of violence against women, and a more inclusive society, there are still challenges that limit their full participation.
Director Cuello highlights that women empowerment is about acknowledging the opportunities that could showcase their capabilities in developing a nation. “It’s about recognizing the strength in every woman, celebrating her potential, and ensuring she has the access and agency which could help her reach her full potential, not just for her benefit but for the progress of our society as a whole.”
She emphasized that women can take roles as a leader in terms of community organization, promotion of peace and well-being.
Reflecting on her life journey and her role as a government employee and public servant, she explains that Capability, Confidence, and Consistency (the three Cs) lays the groundwork for genuine empowerment, enabling individuals to transform potential into remarkable achievements. Therefore, it is essential to establish a supportive ecosystem that includes technology and engagement strategies, ensuring success from the moment individuals take on various roles, particularly in promoting food security and peace security.
Deputy Regional Director for Administration Police Colonel Alexander G. Mariano highlighted the shared dedication to empowering women and creating an inclusive environment where everyone, regardless of gender, background, or status, has equal opportunities for success. He also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of women across all sectors of society. “This is not just a celebration but a call to action. A call for unity, for empowerment, and for a future where gender equality is not just an aspiration but a reality.”
Aside from the Kick-Off Ceremony of the Women’s Month Celebration, 11 women were also awarded for their leadership and good deeds. The Iloilo City Police Office was also awarded for Outstanding PNP Unit with Gender-Responsive Impact Project. ###
