The Department of Agriculture – Western Visayas Adaptation and Mitigation Initiative in Agriculture (AMIA) Program turnover an agricultural product depot to the Bubog-Sebaste Sabang Farmers Association (BUSESAFA) on January 23, 2025, in Sibunag, Guimaras.
BUSESAFA President, Salvacion Galve, said that the depot will benefit farmers by serving as a one-stop shop where they can collectively sell their produce, rather than selling them in the neighborhood.
She expressed her gratitude to various programs that supported BUSESAFA, especially the AMIA Program, for enhancing their community’s capacity to produce high value crops and increase their yields.
The event fostered collaboration among community leaders, local officials, and representatives from agricultural organizations, showcasing the positive impact of modern initiatives on enhancing rural productivity.
Carmelita Fantilanan, AMIA Project Leader, emphasized the program’s ongoing support for farmers in achieving resilience and sustainability in farming. She reminded the farmers that the success of the association depends on their commitment and dedication, urging them
to always “serve with a smile.”
Perla Baltazar, CRAO Senior Technical Officer also highlighted the objectives of the projects under AMIA, such as the product depot, which aims to provide farmers with opportunities to improve productivity and receive training on climate resilience and
sustainability.
“While droughts and other calamities caused by climate change cannot be avoided, AMIA is committed to empowering, aiding, and educating farmers to cope with these challenges,” Baltazar shared.###
