Agri-fishery publications garner citations at PIA Western Visayas Regional Summit

Four publications on agriculture and fishery information and advocacies were recognized at the 2024 Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Western Visayas Search for Outstanding Agency Publications.

The Department of Agriculture (DA) Western Visayas’ official publication, Kaumahan, clinched the top spot as the Best News Magazine for the second consecutive year. Also, the department’s inaugural issue of Hinunulan, which highlights success stories of climate-resilient practices under the Adaptation and Mitigation Initiatives in Agriculture Program, won first place in the Best Special Publication award.

Meanwhile, Haw-as, published by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 6 and JRMPipol of the National Irrigation Administration’s Jalaur River Multi-Purpose Project Stage II, earned second and third places in the Best News Magazine category.

This year’s Western Visayas Information Officers’ Regional Summit, themed “Empowering Information Officers: Building Stronger and Resilient Communities in the Bagong Pilipinas” was attended by over 100 government information officers. The event, held on December 12 at the District 21 Hotel in Iloilo City, provided the platform for the Philippine Statistics Authority Region 6 to share updates on their programs and services, particularly about Civil Registration, National ID System, and Poverty Statistics in Western Visayas.

PIA Assistant Director General for Organizational Development, International Affairs and Quality Management Atty. Tadeo R. Culla shared insights on the critical roles of information officers in communicating developments in the government.###
