DA-PRDP turns over 5M oyster processing facility in Aklan

Successfully completing the construction of the infrastructure supporting the Oyster Production, Processing and Marketing Enterprise in Altavas, Aklan, the DA-PRDP with the Aklan Provincial Project Management and Implementing Unit (PPMIU) conferred the Php5,716,504.72 oyster processing facility to the Proponent Group, Altavas Small Fisherman’s Association (ASFA) and to its cluster member, Tinagong Dagat Fisherfolk’s Association (TDFA) on June 25, 2024.

With the established facility, the enterprise will pursue their aims of increasing oyster production by 55% within its first decade of operation while utilizing a climate-resilient raft module technology to reduce environmental setbacks.

Meanwhile, Aklan Governor Jose Enrique Miraflores is elated of the economic impact the enterprise can contribute and has vowed to continually support the future endeavours of the business in hopes of bringing more investments in the province especially through the new DA-PRDP Scale Up.

“We were here just a year ago for the groundbreaking ceremony. Now, we are celebrating another milestone of the completion of our oyster processing facility. We expect that this will be a great help to our economy and to our fisherfolk here in the first district,” said Miraflores.

Miraflores likewise look forward to the continued effort of the PPMIU to secure projects from the DA-PRDP and further build their credential to be eligible of bigger investments from the DA-PRDP Scale Up.

14 months after the ceremonial groundbreaking of the processing facility, ASFA and TDFA are expected to be all set for the full operation of their enterprise and for manufacturing a signature product from the province of Aklan.###
