70 WV Young AgriPreneurs recognize for agricultural innovations

Seventy (70) young agricultural entrepreneurs from the provinces Iloilo, Aklan, Antique, Capiz, and Guimaras were recognized for their outstanding innovations, best practices, and entrepreneurial skills during the Young Farmers Challenge (YFC) Provincial Level Awarding Ceremony last October 17, 2025 in Iloilo City.
The Young Farmers Challenge (YFC) program encourages more youth to venture into agribusiness, strengthen food security, and advance the agricultural sector’s growth in the region. The Agripreneurs presented 48 business model canvasses (BMC) on production, processing and digital agriculture categories which showcased their respective visions for the future of the agriculture industry.
Each 48 winning BMCs in the provincial level received P80,000.00 for their start-up capital to materialize their concepts on livestock, poultry, fisheries, and crops production; on processing and value-adding.
May Ann B. Grajo, OIC-Chief of the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD), lauded the efforts, perseverance and commitment of the awardees in modernizing agriculture. “Amid the rapid advancement of technology, you- the young farmers of Western Visayas continue to prove that the youth are not only the hope of our farmlands and livelihoods,” Grajo said.
She added that the passion and knowledge of young farmers serve as a beacon of hope for agricultural progress and food security, reflecting the DA’s commitment to inspire more youth to engage in farming.
Senator Imee R. Marcos, the principal author of the YFC Program extended her message of support, emphasizing that YFC continues to transform Philippine agriculture into a more vibrant, modern, and innovative industry through the enthusiasm and leadership of the youth.
This year’s awarding ceremony affirmed the DA’s commitment to cultivating the next generation of farmer-entrepreneurs particularly the youth who embody diligence, creativity, and resilience in ensuring a sustainable and food-secure future of our country. For the 2025 Start-Up Open Category – Provincial Level, the awardees were: Mr. Jess Perez (Aklan), Mr. John Lloyd Dujali (Antique), Mr. Mark David Tabang (Capiz), and Ms. Erica Hadlocon (Guimaras).###
